Where's Mr. Right?

With 6,762,765,825 people in the world as of 2/24/09 @ 7:24pm est., How do you find the right person to spend the rest of your life with?

  • Most attractions begin with looks, unless you meet someone on a chat line! :)
  • Next, conversation! Can this person hold your attention?
  • Also, does the person spend quality time with you?
  • And of course, most of us want to be treated like a king or queen?
Most of us will date several people in our life time before we meet our Mr./Mrs. Right, the above are a few key things that most of us use to measure that things are going well when we first meet someone. Can we use these few key things to determine that we've found our Mr. Right?

  • Women~We want the fairytale relationship, as seen on TV or in Books.
  • Men~You want a Down-Ass-Chick as heard in rap songs or simply, a Mom!
And in the beginning of the relationship, life is like that fairytale romance and your girl will be down for you...But after so long, what things are we willing to let slide if you really love that person?

Looks? Conversation? Quality Time? Being Treated Well?

Can you have a healthy relationship without One or Two of the key things.....?

Or if one or two standards are lacking, the person has become Mr./Mrs. Wrong??

  1. Well first of all let me say that I love that pic at the beginning of this post! That's HOT!! Second, I wish you had written out that number...it took me a minute to read it in my head! LOL

Well, one thing I've learned over the years is that looks are definitely NOT EVERYTHING! You may think Im crazy when I say this but looks and pretty feet were a prerequisite for me (back in the day). Funny I know. But as the pretty men with even prettier feet "acted up" and I had to "give them "the boot", I decided to change my modus operandi or MO. I began looking for someone that was going to be to me all the things that were most important. What is your most important two or three things? What MUST a man possess in order for you to even consider a life long relationship? Well, toes can be covered up, let me tell you! So what I realized was that financial security and monogamy were my most important two factors in a life long partner. I prayed, meditated and claimed that by 30, I would have a husband that sustained those qualities and if he had more then GREAT! Guess what? I WORKED IT OUT!!! Not only did I find a great husband with horrible feet I might add (LOL sad but true), but he's proved to be a wonderful provider, father, and supporter of me and my dreams! He's patient, and loving, and sometimes I feel as though I may not deserve him. But he's mine and he's a keeper...and I just "work" on his feet when we have time... ;)

Tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 25th at 8am PST I will post "How Do You Say I Love You" check it out. It is a thoughtful post about how I say I love you to my children AND my husband.

  2. And...here's a great story of a couple that has been married for OVER 84 years! He's 104 and she's 102. They are still alive; still married.Their granddaughter had them added to the Guinness Book of Records.

She knew what she wanted in a mate and it has lasted all this time!

This is what she had to say when asked her reason for marrying him on May 13, 1924.

"He was not mean; he was not a fighter," Zelmrya said. "He was quiet and kind. He was not much to look at but he was sweet."

    SEE...LOOKS AREN'T EVERYTHING!!!LOL

  3. It seems that nobody will ever meet all of our qualifications. I think the key thing is finding someone that loves you for you and vice versa. Things are never going to be perfect, atleast all of the time. But love and communication along with GOD in the relationship overides all of that. The most important thing to me is that he loves me enough to work things out after I have done something wrong also. Men have their standards also and sometimes we dont measure up, why? because we are all human. bebe

  4. Dear Anonymous, (hope you see this)If nobody meets your qualifications then how on earth is any1 going to "love u for u"? Do u luv u? We ain't talkin bout perfection we talking bout a relationship with 2 ppl. Father & son don't ALWAYS get along! Mothers & daughters either! sisters & brothers cousins even friends bicker and fight! if he love u enuf to work things out then aint at least one of yo qualifications met?
I prolly shouldnt have commented on yo comment cuz it dont seem like you know what you was tryin to say...and I dont either.

  5. After I had an opportunity to really think about this particular blog and the 4 key things I mentioned, a man from my past came to mind!

You see, I believe that I found my Mr. Right, but unfortunately I was his Mrs. Right Now!

This man was good looking, tall with the perfect build, intelligent, ambitious, respectful, compationate, fun, spontanious, we could talk about anything, he treated me very well! and most importantly he didn't mind cooking! What a man...What a man! What a Mighty good man!

Although this relationship was long ago, I am greatful for the time that we had together as lovers and friends. Looking back, I can honestly say he kept the 4 key things in tact from beginning to end! You see he knew how to be a great mate, he was the complete package! I miss him to this day and know in my heart that he was my Mr. Right!

  6. So Ms. Marry,
Do you believe that there is no hope for you now. Since you've already met your Mr. Right, and let him get away? May be he wasn't YOUR Mr. Right, just the guy that was put in your life to show you how your Mr. Right is supposed to be/act/treat you...
Just something for you to think on a bit...(cause you never know, Your Mr. Right could be right around the corner...keep your eyes and heart open for the possibilities)

  7. Anonymous....I can only pray that I will find another person that possess his attributes! So far, No luck!

I try to stay optimistic about my status! I hope that one day I will find a mate. But at night when it's time for bed and you have to hug your pillow instead of a warm body for the 200th time that year, when you dine by yourself, watch a good movie alone...It starts to get to you, and you begin to think! God, where is he?

But I also think..If God has a man out there for me...He must be all that! Because i've been in the Valley for too long! So he has to have something very exciting waiting on the other side of the mountain!

  8. In response to "Dear Anonymous",
in defense of "Anonymous" aka MY MAMA.
I can only imagine how much of an education you have acquired. Try a spell check.
Clearly, her point was that there is no Mr. Perfect. Women are known to have a list of preferences for men as well as physical standards(tall, dark, & handsome...must have a job..must have a car.) And for most women a preference is a qualification. So "Anonymous" is saying even if the man doesn't fit each preference we have, loving and accepting eachother for who you both are should outweigh any physical or character flaws the two possess. But I don't even know why I wasted my time trying to further explain something so simple, I doubt you were even able to comprehend that.

    Anyways..have a good day everyone.

Love You MAMA, SHANE,& LORI! :)
